Hold on to God's Love

Mk. 12:28-34
Last Wednesday was a sad day for our nation as our three kababayans were executed through lethal injection in China. They were victims of greedy organized drug syndicates whose main objective is to earn money through illegal means. We have seen how the family members grieved over the death of their loved ones.

When faced with this tragic event, the best thing that we can do is to lift up everything to the Lord.
It's heartwarming to see people from various sects and non-government organizations offering Holy Masses and prayers for the victims and their families. But more than our prayers, the Lord is calling all of us to act out our love to our brethren by sharing God's word with them. We can enhance and fortify their faith in the Lord by our leading example. It is our Christian duty to save at least one soul and bring them before our heavenly Father.
In the Gospel, Jesus summarizes the Ten Commandments into two - the love of God and the love of our neighbors. We can love our neighbors without loving God, but we cannot love God without loving our neighbors. Jesus reminds us to love Him faithfully through our genuine love for one another.
Everyday, we are challenged to show our authentic love for God. We have witnessed that a lot of people were faithful in not committing the sin of commission. They were able to diligently follow the commandments of the Lord. However, many failed when it comes to sin of omission. Our failure to bless others because of our inability to become good persons has led them to live their life away from God.
Friends, we have to do our share to prevent the unfortunate event that befell our fellow Filipinos abroad from happening again. As children of God, we have to be firm in doing our Christian acts together. Let us rally behind the love of the Lord and continue to proclaim His goodness by showing our love to our brothers and sisters in words, deeds and actions. Continue to hold on to the Lord and be assured of His guidance, protection and safety for you and your family.
