“You have been told, O man, what is good, and what the Lord requires of you: Only to do right and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8
There are many kinds or things we can say we are walking with God, just like our relationship with others. As a Christian, we all experience a sense of failure, especially the failure to measure up to everyone’s standards. Satan will try to use these circumstances to make us weak, have self-condemnation, for us to be discouraged and cast our life out of the community.
What we should remember is, our failures are used in many ways for us to learn.
To handle our failures, we must understand:
•When I fail, God will defend me. God never condemns. He will never condemn me when I fall short of his standard.
“Hence, now there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1
Our mind is a playground of good and evil, the devil may use this to condemn ourselves. But God will never leave us nor forsake us. He is always with us. But, we should have repentance and reconciliation in our relationship with God and others.
God uses our failures to inspect us. People are like a teabag; if you want to know what’s inside them, drop them in a hot water. God tests our faith with this kind of failure.
“The Lord within her is just, who does no wrong; Morning after morning he renders judgment unfailingly, at dawn” (,:5).
God will always give us an extra amazing grace for us to do our responsibility.
• There is a true repentance and there is a true receiving of forgiveness. Forgive as long as someone asks for forgiveness.
God will not decide to give up on you and me. He will always make a way to win us back.
“If we acknowledge our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from every wrongdoing” (1 John 1:9
God will give us the way out of a failure. Failure does not alter the plan of God for us. God uses failures to correct us, just like a child.
“Free me from disgrace and contempt, for I observe your decrees” (Psalm 119:22
God reveals His glory in our weakness. If we have true repentance, it will give us forgiveness and set us free.
“Answer them: As I live, says the Lord God, I swear I take no pleasure in the death of a wicked man, but rather in the wicked man’s conversion, that he may live. Turn, turn from your evil way! Why should I die, O house of Israel?” (,:11).
• God uses failures to protect us. It can be a blessing in disguise.
“And daughter Zion is left like a hut in the vineyard, Like a shed in a melon patch, like a city blockaded. Unless the Lord of hosts left us a scanty remnant, We had become as Sodom, we should be like Gomorrah” (Isaiah 1:8-10
God uses our failure to help us. To minister to those who are in need and encourage others. God uses our failure to allow us to go on to finish the call that God has set for our community.
• God uses failures to perfect us. When responded more correctly, God is interested in our character. Character and relationship with God are the only two things we can bring to heaven.
Stand up to what you have been called to.
“In contrast, the fruit of the Holy Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Galatians 5:22
Let us put our failures into the big hand of God and say, “Yes, Lord!” God uses failures to direct us to the right direction of righteousness. God is trying to wake us up and call our attention.
To handle failures, we must nurture the things of the Holy Spirit and our life must be ruled by the word of God. Discipline yourself. Have faith in and rely on God, allowing Him to do His promise to us. Have a Christian community.
God is at work in our life even if we don’t recognize or understand it. But, it is so much easier when we let ourselves be in His plans for us.
