Members of Friends Vietnam gathered once more at APC Ton Duc Thang, Ho Chi Minh City on June 19, 2011 to celebrate Treasures with the theme, "Mission Challenge: Managing Change."
The feast started with a recitation of the Holy Rosary and Chaplet of the Divine Mercy. A Eucharistic celebration followed, with Fr. Dante Quidayan as the celebrant. During the homily, Fr. Dante described God the Father with the acronym "TAY" in connection with the celebration of Father's Day: T for Trinity, A for Amazing grace of God and Y for Yes to God’s love. Before the concluding rite, Fr. Dante blessed the fathers present, as well as those who were celebrating their birthdays and wedding anniversaries, and also the family of Bro. Raul Rodil.
A video presentation was shown and inspiring messages from the core group were delivered to Bro. Raul’s family to thank them for their service to the community. Another video presentation was shown, featuring all the fathers in the community.
After the potluck lunch, sharing of blessings followed with Sis. Lucy Raymundo, as the first sharer. She said that a small blessing is still considered a big blessing. She added that the one who serves the Divine Mercy will not be abandoned. The second sharer, Bro. Eric Montera, expressed his appreciation to those who attended the Treasures. He’s thankful to the Divine Mercy for the many blessings that his family has received.
Sis. Dina Balicanot was God’s messenger of the day expounding on the "Stages of Change" - Ending, Neutral Zone and Beginning. She emphasized that we must accept and welcome change when it comes. With every change, God is always giving us a new beginning, she said. Sis. Dina led the praise and worship as well. Sis. Mel Ferrer and Bro. Jim Esperanzate served as moderators.
The activity ended with the recitation of the 3 o’clock prayer and singing of the community song.
