One thing with Noah was, he was very obedient. He followed the specifications for the building of the ark. We should be like him. (Noah wasn't an expert, but those who built the Titanic were and the ship still sank.)
There were eight in all in the ark - Noah, his wife, his three children and their wives. There were also seven pairs for every clean animal and one for unclean. Noah made the tiger come into the ark. If we follow God, we can bring our enemies to God.
For seven days Noah and his family stayed in the ark before the Great Flood came (Gen. 7:4). God gave the people the chance to enter the ark.
Heed the last call. God gives chances. God will make one last call for us someday. God is patient with us (2 Peter 3:9
). God didn't destroy Nineveh as he told Jonah He would. God would not have destroyed the city had Abraham pleaded for it.
After God closed the door of the ark, the flood came (Gen. 7:16). For 40 days, flood continued on the earth. The waters remained on the crest over the earth for 150 days before finally subsiding.
Where is the ark now? Jesus, He is always inviting us in.
God's invitation is an invitation to survive His wrath:
God always judges wickedness.
God's judgment is always laid out beforehand.
God's judgment is always consistent with what He has said.
God's grace is offered before judgment.
It is an invitation to take a step of faith:
Don't miss the boat.
Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark.
Stay fit.
Don't listen to critics. Just get on with the job that needs to be done.
Speed always isn't an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs,
When you're stressed, float a while.
No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow waiting.
It is an invitation to an entire family:
Remember that we are all in the same boat.
God wants entire families to be saved.
God expects us to lead our families to Christ.
Our job is to go into the world, like God did in the days of Noah, and invite all people to enter into His spiritual place of safety.
